I'm looking forward to making books with my tenth grade students next term using CS2 with traditional bookbinding skills, a kind of "book as art object meets manga" adventure. Today was the last day of Fall 2007 term, and we begin with same students next term, the new annualization scheme. Looking forward to old vs. new.
Yes, I am somewhat familiar with it. I worked with Pyramid Atlantic here in Silver Spring, MD...then, it was Baltimore.
That is sooo cool! I teach a few uncial calligraphy classes to our 6th grade as they are studying Medieval history, but that it about it. Last year I only did one letterpress folio for myself...I really miss art.
I too was a calligrapher, papermaker and bookbinder for all those years. What a small world.

Upstate NY...I think Prensky's book takes a look at implications for the direction technology is taking -- virtual worlds, etc. and how industry and our students are taking to it and how educators can best use it to engage our learners (regardless of age or demographics).
Diana,
Thanks. I can take no credit for the photo and I googled it, and figured that it is old enough to be copyright free...I hope!
I was a "working" artist for 20 years before becoming a school media specialist, or teacher-librarian, or whatever we are called now, and I keep winding up in the Computer Lab instead of the library, anyway.
I am teaching at community college and therefore not directly involved with the certification process in Pennsylvania. I would direct you to the PDE site. My soon to be daughter-inlaw to be (next November) just graduated from Bucknell in Elementary Education. She might be a resource on current rules and regulations. Glad to help out if I can.
Nice to meet you too, Diana. My Board Certification is a Generalist - Middle Childhood area (ages 7 to 12), not Ed Tech. I worked on it while I was still a 4th grade teacher. Now I am out of the classroom, working with teachers to incorporate technology into their learning activities. I'm looking forward to learning with you. :)
Hi. Yes, I am having a wonderful time but, to answer your question, I wouldn't know where to begin and I'm not sure what your goals are or what equipment you have - otherwise I would be peppering you with suggestions and ideas.
