We just completed a wonderful discussion with the authors of Reinventing PBL. I've posted the chat log for everyone. Some key ideas were that we need concrete examples, projects from start to finish, and evidence for administrators and other teachers to see that PBL really does meet standards and develop learning of content, technology and soft skills for how to learn working iwith others.
Suzie and Jane offered to respond to further questions, if you want to post them on the ning or on their blog which is linked to the ning. They are wonderful resources to address some of the concerns we've raised in our discussions.
[9:52:39 PM] Jane Krauss says: His email about the posters... "The ideals I try to infuse in my class are effort, caring, teamwork, responsibility, common sense, problem solving, confidence, and self control. The main points come from a book called Mega Skills by Dorothy Rich. I always try to bring up classroom management whenever we get deep into the wonders and innovations of teaching children with technology."
Great. Thank you so much for all the wonderful information. I took out the link - it didn't go to the videos, but the concepts are here. Thank you ever so much.
In the notes, it mentions me doing a blog on my next project. I am not going to be using my personal site. I will be blogging on http://pbl-birdside.blogspot.com
